Bilingual Website For Zürich Based Artisan Pizza Company
Flour & Water
Flour & Water were established in 2016 with the simple aim of turning their passion for good food into the finest pizza’s. Based in Zürich, they have recently expanded their food truck into a permanent base at ‘the Bridge’ in Europaalle, Zürich allowing many more people to experience and enjoy the true taste of Pizza al Taglio and purchase other products including their own Italian artisan beer.
AllDesignOnline were first approached by Flour & Water as a start-up in 2016, to establish the initial web presence that helped launch the business. As Flour & Water continued to flourish, AllDesignOnline were asked to redevelop the website to reflect the growing brand and business including promoting the new pizza shop at ‘the Bridge’ in Europaalle, Zürich. The website has been integral in their growth and it is planned in the near future that an online ordering and delivery system for pizza and products will be launched with the help of AllDesignOnline.
The Project
The key aims of the website redevelopment were to promote the new shop at ‘the Bridge’, to reinforce the brand and ideology of Flour & Water and to also hint to users that the ability to order and have delivery online would be available soon.
The established branding provided a solid starting point for this project, logo, typography and colours were already in use and were to be continued. Being a food based website, it was essential that the imagery is high quality and strongly portrays the pizza and ingredients. Rather than keeping everything purely as photographs, we suggested that those elements that were not food, i.e. things that are processes such as the method used to create the pizza, should be hand drawn line illustrations to reinforce the hand-made simplicity of the pizza and also provide a very ‘clean’ feel.
In addition to the updated services and information, Four & Water also requested that the new site be dual language, Swiss-German and English. Users should be able to switch seamlessly between the two languages on any page. In order to create this, AllDesignOnline used a multisite approach where the written content is language specific but the assets are shared which makes the process of carrying out future updates simpler and the site more efficient.
As with all current websites, it was a key requirement that the Flour & Water website displays clearly on mobile devices and is fully responsive and easy to navigate to make the website as accessible as possible.
The modular construction of the site has allowed scope for additional sections to be added into the site in future phases of work along with an easy-to-use system for Flour & Water to add new information and update the website content internally.
